Man Of Steel

Man Of Steel.
"Man of steel", or perhaps I should say "the man who stole the hearts of the masses", is simply another version of the superman myth that survived over the years despite its repeatedly told plot. First and foremost, regarding the spectacular movie "Man of Steel", I should believe that the entire audience must be grateful, not only for the exceedingly well-taken choice of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, but also for the magnificent role played by Russell Crowe, who is not only a great actor but also an incredibly amazing human being. The enticing element about the movie and which, I believe, sets it apart from any superman movie or series, is that it does not focus mainly on the powers that Clark possesses in an arrogant or exaggeratedly showy way, but it combines the super abilities which he possesses with the emotions and the pure human nature implemented in him by his earthly parents in a very beautiful way. Henry Cavill does manage to interpret this combination effortlessly and even sometimes just with his face expressions without saying a single word. Truly astonishing.
There are many factors that attract a normal viewer to "Superman" story, especially this version of the story. At the very beginning, we get to see what led to the arrival of such a 'beautiful' alien to our 'exhausted' earth. Russell Crowe, who portrayed his biological father, introduced to us how the end of the planet, Krypton, occurred. And it is a large sequence - of course it is large since we wanted Henry Cavill to literally occupy every frame of the movie - that takes place before the actual appearance of the protagonist. Then we see incidents of his childhood and adolescence and maturity merged with his present-time actions. The mix and match between the past and the present is well-organized and doesn't irritate the spectator. The first scene we get to see Clark is on the back of a ship, when he goes to save a bunch of men from an explosion and the scene is beyond description. In it we meet the hero for the first time and we witness a glimpse of his powers without any overstatements. Even we get to see his fantastic physique. Also we see the very first of his screams, which, I believe, are very expressive and justified.
The human nature, implemented by his parents, is truly one powerful factor that adds to the movie. He is not a machine, or an automatized person, or even a cruel heartless creature like his antagonist; he is simply human, as much as any human being on earth. The brilliance by which Henry Cavill brings these humanistic emotions to surface is another merit that adds to him as well as to the movie; he is a great actor; he nailed it. To see this movie after three years of its actual release and still feel the shock he felt when he lost his father, and the desperation he experienced when he couldn't save people is a clear evidence of the impact this movie has and will have on future superheroes movies.
Then comes Henry Cavill, who is basically brilliant. His performance captures the attention without any second-thoughts. He brought so much to the character and enriched it with sophisticated characteristics that it lacked in prior versions. He is not just another handsome actor; he is a full-of-talent and mature performer, a legend yet to come. The four screams in "Man of Steel" truly enticed attention. The first scream is at the exposition of his persona, while he is trying so hard not to let go of some sort of a wreck that might have killed innocent lives. The second scream takes place when his father dies, his human father; though his Krypton father - Russell Crowe - died as well and in fact my sister told me that Russell Crowe is the best actor to perform a death scene (extremely genuine), but the scene with his human father really touched my heart, because he didn't just sacrifice his life for his own son but taught him that it is worthy enough to wait until the right moment. The third one is almost at the finale while he was fighting the evil arms of the huge machine brought by Zod - the military Kryptonian General - to earth. The final scream is the one at the very end, after killing Zod and that one is the most desperately powerful scream of all. Each one of these screams is integral to expressing the emotions and feelings that are at work within his psyche.
The rest of the cast are yet very excellent choice to the integration of the movie. Each one embodied their role very convincingly, especially Amy Adams who portrays Louise Lane, the journalist, and the lady-love of Clark. There is sweat smoothness about her portrayal of Louise that is not either boring not exaggerated. The swiftness by which Clark and Louise fall in love is indeed on another level. She is certainly a much empowered woman and he is a super-man; they're more of completion to each other's personalities and their relation is about bringing long-lost pieces together rather than a relation out of need or temporary infatuation. Clark indeed does not take Louise for granted, he appreciates her and her efforts, and her abandonment of the revealing of his story; and she understands what he passed through and the hard-work he has done to conceal himself form the rest of the world. So, I guess probably they set a very integrated and self-esteemed example of the modern relationship between two partners, a man and a woman.
The technology used, though it is a bit extreme and a little not-truly conceived, also adds another depth to the movie. The planet which Clark came from - Krypton - was a very ancient and thriving one; consequently, whatever the sort of technology used, it is justified simply by the nature the long-existing planet and the enormous years passed on it with different eras of evolution and expansion. Shockingly, the way it was blown, as a result of the bad decision taken by its authorial council, evoked a sense of bitterness as it resembles what will become of EARTH if humans have not abandoned their hideous actions. Lastly, as of now, the many spectacular elements incorporated in one film toughens the job for the respective creators to pull off a second successful sequence. Yet with Henry Cavill on board, I believe it will be a matter of finding the appropriate time in his schedule to start filming.
