WhatsApp Drops its Advertising Plans in 2020
WhatsApp Says No to Advertising for the Time Being! |
The notorious messenger WhatsApp - owned by Facebook - has managed over the years to become one of the most important instant messaging services, garnering the attention of a billion people and counting! In 2020, it's undoubted that WhatsApp is indeed releasing multiple new, most demanded features suitable for the next years of tech innovation and social media reign - including Dark Mode, reverse image search, adverts and more. The prior two years revealed that Facebook intends to allow ads on the WhatsApp platform as a form of monetizing the popular messenger. Reportedly, the ads on WhatsApp will be shown inbetween the status of the user's contacts - similar to Instagram's stories. The immense notoriety of WhatsApp made it inevitable for Facebook to put the messenger's success to its benefit! Unfortunately, it turned out lately that the future advertising plans for WhatsApp aren't going to happen any time soon!
Since the announcement of Facebook's intentions to monetize the WhatsApp messenger, tech experts, fans and users opposed such intentions very much. Implanting ads in the WhatsApp realm will be highly beneficial for the owners - Facebook company - but highly disturbing for the greater portion of users out there. The user's messaging experience won't be the same with ads frequently displayed on WhatsApp and that's why Facebook decided to postpone its plans to monetize the messenger! WhatsApp is currently immensely successful and popular, flaunting an end-to-end encryption feature that is unavailable on Facebook Messenger and because WhatsApp is such a great asset for Facebook, it shouldn't be mishandled, otherwise the company may lose millions of users in the wake of a wrong decision!
