The international journey of producing an effective and safe vaccine for the novel Coronavirus has initiated about a year ago with multiple countries and governments investing billions of dollars in scientific research and vaccine development. As of now, there are about four authorized vaccines for COVID-19 that are ready for immediate manufacturing and distribution; the vaccines available at the moment are respectively by Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and Oxford/AstraZeneca.

Reportedly there is another highly effective vaccine joining the race this year which is the Russian Sputnik V vaccine that's been proved to have an efficacy rate of more than 92% during the trial period. After the trial period for the vaccine, Sputnik V was authorized for usage immediately especially as it is one of the highly effective vaccines against the virus. The availability of a fifth vaccine will broaden the international vaccination campaigns once the shipments start to other countries. Sputnik V is stored at temperature of 2C to 8C degrees which will make the transportation processes more easy and quick - in comparison to the Pfizer vaccine for instance! Once you're vaccinated, specially designed antibodies are produced and deployed to boost your immune system against COVID-19. The Sputnik V vaccine is given in two doses with three weeks - 21 days - apart. This newer vaccine is reported to be completely safe, effective and with no major reactions to any of the two doses of it.
